Flossie from the beginning

Madeleine is fed Guru, a Cold Pressed food and has been eating this for nearly two years now. We thought we would share with you our experience when getting Flossie at the start of 2017 and how she started her Cold Pressed life.

When deciding to get a sibling for Maddie, we wanted 'The Best' for our new baby girl. The best breeder, the best parents and the best start in life for her. For us this meant Cold Pressed feeding too. Maddie didn't have that as a rehome so we wanted for our new arrival what we would of wished for Maddie.

If you haven't heard of Guru Cold Pressed, it is a human grade food containing high quality vegetables, fruit, oils and muscle meat. This is ground, then mixed together. The process preserves all the nutrients as it is Cold Pressed at temperatures below 44 degrees. We wouldn't feed them anything that we wouldn't eat ourselves. Maddie has been thriving on Guru ever since we transitioned her, so we wanted the same for Floss.

Flossie was the first born just after 11pm on January 13th 2017. A beautiful black and tan Spaniel bundle followed shortly by her stunning brothers just after midnight.
They had the most attentive Mummy, Jessie, who cared so well for them. As weaning approached Flossie and the litter were given their first taste of food, crumbled and then mixed with warm water.
The outcome was snoozing puppies with the food not just on the inside, but on their toes and noses too. Happy and settled after every meal time.

We visited Flossie each week and got to watch the whole litter grow so quickly. Their coats glossy and their playfulness was addictive. The litter was transitioned from wet food to dry by slowly reducing the amount of water added, so the porridge type consistency became thicker. By 7 weeks they were happy to eat it dry. Choosing the smallest bite size pieces or crumbling the larger ones for them, they licked the bowls clean.

Armed with a puppy pack from Guru, and with Flossie wrapped up warm on March 11th, she was ready to start the second part of her life, with us. She was an angel, sleeping through the night, playing with Maddie. She even stole Mads big girl bed most days! Her energy, her coat, teeth and health were all perfect.
The vet was impressed saying 'What ever you are doing, just keep on doing it' That was what we wanted to hear.

A week later Flossie tried her first Cold Pressed Trip Bone. A meal on the go, or for Flossie who was still awaiting that first walk, a meal in Maddie's big girl bed after she stole it yet again! She loved it and whilst supervised she muched her way through. They are perfect given to her at meal times and for days out they are a complete meal to pop in your bag or pocket.

We used the puppy slider on the Guru feeding guide and monitored Flossie's weight. Puppies can eat the exact same Cold Pressed through to adulthood and senior. It's so gentle on their digestion and contains all the goodness she needed to grow. The only thing she did need was a larger amount as she grew. Meal times were enjoyed as was the puppy post meal slumber.
She was the little girl we wished for. She was playful, happy and enjoying her food.

Guru have Surf and Turf which is Beef, Sea Fish & Vegetables or Full on Feast which is Duck, Sea Fish and Vegetables and reading those ingredients on the bag, it sounds like our favourite Sunday Roast ... yummy.
Maddie and Flossie like both flavours and we like to serve them one in the morning and the other in the evening. The Trip Bones are Chicken and Vegetable which, as we already said, Floss and Mads adore. We also add water to the Guru and use it to fill our kongs or make fun ice cube treats with extra carrot, banana or cucumber on those rare sunny days. They are fun to make and they love playing on the lawn with them. We have also started baking healthy treats with Guru too!

Training recall has been easy as we use Guru's air dried British Venison, apple & sweet potato slices. Just a shake of the packet and she's back in a flash. Getting the attention of an energetic Spaniel when she's happily off swimming and chasing her friends is no easy task without the Venison! We learnt that the hard way ... no sausage slices, no puppy!

She has grown into a beautiful one year old, her coat is so soft with the oils from the Guru. We often get asked on a walk what we use to make her coat so shiny? We explain it's the food we put in that gives her the shine, not the bubbles we use to wash off the muck.

Floss has now been on Guru a year and she's an ideal weight. She has energy on her off lead walks and easily surpasses her tracker daily target. Her stools are solid and pick up easily, her breath doesn't smell and unless a naughty visitor lets her steal some thing she shouldn't, then there's no nasty gas smells either. No blaming the dog in our house!

To us there really isn't another option. It's cold pressed all the way for our girls!

So would we recommend Guru for new puppies?  100% yes
Would we change anything we did? Not a chance!

Flossie is our perfect little girl and we love her with all our hearts. What ever did we do without her? She fills our home with laughter and love and for all that she's brought to our family we feel we are giving her the very best right back.

We love you Floss
We love you Guru
